Hurricane Francine takes aim at Louisiana

Francine continues to show signs of strengthening as it nears the Louisiana coastline.

The latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center (NHC) shows Francine Francine is located about 245 miles southwest of Morgan City, Louisiana and moving to the northeast at 10 mph.

Hurricane Warnings are in place for the Louisiana coastline stretching from Cameron to Grand Isle, which includes Baton Rouge.

Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Warnings now extend from far eastern Texas to Mississippi. Multiple parishes in Louisiana have issued mandatory evacuation orders as Francine is set to make landfall sometime this afternoon.

Louisiana could see as much as 12" of rain, damaging hurricane-force winds and life-threatening storm surge between 5-10 feet at the coast.

Francine's remnants are expected to slowly lift north Mississippi and into Arkansas Thursday into Thursday night. As far as local impacts, impacts will be extremely low as we will only see additional cloud cover and small shower chances.
