Summer heat returns this week

Cool Canadian air made for a fall-like weekend as afternoon highs peaked in the upper 60s Saturday, then in the low 70s Sunday.

You may have noticed towards the end of the day Sunday that skies were rather hazy. That will continue at the very least for the first half our Monday as this plume of thick wildfire smoke exits. Otherwise, sunny and dry conditions along with a more organized wind out of the west and southwest will leave afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Temperatures throughout the week will warm as a ridge of high pressure builds in aloft. This will also create a blocking pattern which will leave us high and dry into the upcoming weekend.

Afternoon highs will peak in the low 80s Tuesday, then in the upper 80s Wednesday and Thursday. This weather pattern will also create a blocking pattern which will leave us mainly dry during this summer-like stretch and into the weekend. Later in the week, clouds will be on the increase as moisture lifts north ahead of system coming in from the Gulf. This may eventually lead to a chance for some showers, especially Saturday into Sunday.
