Wildfire smoke brings hazy skies, lower air quality levels

Wildfire smoke drifting through our atmosphere made skies hazy at times on Tuesday. Thicker plumes are expected to filter in today, keeping skies hazy but also having a small impact on our air quality.

Thankfully, it won't be nearly to the extent of the poor air quality levels that were felt last summer. But if you are sensitive to smoky air, consider spending more time indoors than outdoors, keep your windows shut and have the A/C going. Afternoon highs will be slightly warmer, reaching the low to mid 80s. Skies remain dry into Thursday, with overnight lows falling into the mid 50s.

As high pressure builds in the upper-levels, this will displace the thicker smoke to our northeast. However, air quality will still take a hit, sitting at moderate levels Thursday. Similar to today, take precautions if you are sensitive to smoky air. Skies stay dry but hazy with highs peaking in the upper 80s.

Moisture associated with the leftovers of Hurricane Francine will send cloud cover our way for Friday and the weekend. It's unlikely we get any rain from the remnants, though there is a slight chance for a few showers Saturday night, Sunday, and for early next week. High temperatures drop a few degrees, landing in the low 80s with overnight lows landing in the low 60s.
