8 AM CDT /9 AM EDT/ FRIDAY.
* TEMPERATURE...LOW TEMPERATURES WILL LIKELY FALL TO THE LOWER 30S OVER MUCH OF THE REGION AWAY FROM THE URBANIZED CHICAGO METRO AREA. SOME OF THE TYPICALLY COLDER SPOTS MAY EVEN DIP INTO THE UPPER 20S BY MORNING. COMBINED WITH CLEAR SKIES AND LIGHT WINDS. THIS WILL RESULT IN WIDESPREAD FROST IN THESE AREAS. IN AND NEAR THE CITY OF CHICAGO AND THE IMMEDIATE LAKE MICHIGAN SHORE... TEMPERATURES WILL FALL TO THE MID 30S TO LOWER 40S. THIS WILL
RESULT IN SOME PATCHY FROST IN THESE WARMER LOCATIONS. TEMPERATURES AT GROUND LEVEL MAY BE SEVERAL DEGREES COLDER THAN THE REPORTED AIR TEMPERATURE...WHICH IS MEASURED TWO METERS ABOVE THE GROUND.
* IMPACTS...PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...TENDER...NON INDIGENOUS VEGETATION LEFT EXPOSED OVERNIGHT MAY BE DAMAGED OR KILLED.
A FROST ADVISORY MEANS THAT FROST IS POSSIBLE. SENSITIVE OUTDOOR PLANTS MAY BE KILLED IF LEFT UNCOVERED.

Frost Advisory
Although most rural areas of the Stateline have already seen frost or freezing temperatures, an "official" freeze has yet to happen at the Rockford airport. That could change tonight as I'm forecasting a low of 32 degrees in Rockford. And because some area gardens are still blooming, a frost advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service:
