Yet Another Stage Collapse?

Strong winds caused yet another stage to collapse, this time in Europe. Here's more from accuweather.com:
Strong storms rumbled across Belgium Thursday evening, killing at least three people and injuring 70 others at an open-air music festival. Strong winds from a thunderstorm toppled the stage and knocked over trees, much like the recent stage collapse at the Indianapolis State Fair.

This archived radar loop shows the storms as they moved across Belgium.

Radar information showed a line of thunderstorms with indications of strong winds moving across northern Belgium Thursday evening, local time. An observing station, Beauvechain, located 27 miles southwest of Hasselt, measured 50-mph wind gusts as the storms blasted through.

Hasselt is about 50 miles east of Brussels, which recorded a 43-mph wind gust when the thunderstorms passed through.

Clusters of severe thunderstorms tracking through Belgium are rare, according to AccuWeather.com Senior Meteorologist Alan Reppert.

"They only get a few severe storms a year," Reppert stated.

Unfortunately, the threat for severe weather across Europe is not over.

"The thunderstorms will continue to put down 40- to 50-mph wind gusts through the night over Germany, eventually reaching Poland by Friday morning," Reppert continued.
