Expected Rainfall

10:38am Update: Showers with thunderstorms moving through southern Jo Daviess county near Elizabeth.  These will move into Stockton shortly.  Also a few showers in northern Stephenson county near Orangeville and now moving into Monroe

9:42am Update: A cold front will pull through later today and cause showers to increase in coverage, especially in the evening and overnight hours.  Showers, with a few embedded rumbles of thunder, formed this morning and there are currently more showers/storms that have developed in eastern Iowa all moving to the northeast.  An area of low pressure will move out of the southern Plains near St. Louis and into southern Illinois by Thursday morning.  At the same time the winds within the jetstream will become a little more favorable that could enhance lift throughout the atmosphere to cause a few heavier showers to form overnight.  Anywhere between a quarter of an inch to around three quarters inch of rain could fall by morning.  A few higher totals will be found further west where the rain is expected to fall for a longer period.
