Tuesday Weather Update

Update: A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued further south to include southwest Wisconsin as well as northeast Iowa and extreme northwest Illinois; this includes Jo Daviess County.  Cold air advection behind the low will help cool the atmosphere enough to allow a mix of rain and snow, if not a complete change over, for some by Wednesday.

Update Noon: A few light showers and even drizzle will continue for the remainder of this afternoon as the first round of rain moves into Michigan.  Temperatures will remain in the 40s with wind from the north and northeast.  Fog can also be expected because of all the recent rain.

Looking at the latest analysis this morning and things seem to be materializing just as we had expected.  In fact, it almost looks like the track of the low has shifted a little further east, slowing down and may deepen a little further by the the time it reaches Chicago early Wednesday morning.  What this means for us is that the axis of the heaviest rain may fall over top us tonight into Wednesday morning.  Anywhere between a half an inch to over an inch of rain has fallen with what went through earlier and we'll probably add another inch and a half to locally two inches by tomorrow morning.  We'll continue to track this storm as it moves northeast and brings severe weather in the south and snow across the upper Midwest.
