Windy and Warmer on Sunday

A sprawling area of high pressure is centered over New Jersey tonight.  A broad area of brisk southerly winds have developed on the back side of the high from the southern plains northeastward into the Midwest. The wind will continue across the area on Sunday gusting above 30 mph at times, boosting temperatures into the low to middle 60's under partly sunny skies.  A weak cool front will approach from the west on Sunday night, and some scattered light showers are possible overnight.  The front will stall out just to the south of a Chicago to Quincy line by daybreak on Monday.  With the front in the area there will be a slight chance of showers on Monday with temperatures dropping back a few degrees into the upper 50's.  Then things start to get interesting on Monday night as a new area of low pressure develops over the southern plains.  Showers will be likely, and there could be some isolated thunderstorms off and on from Monday night through Tuesday night as the low pressure intensifies and moves to a position over northern Illinois  by daybreak on Wednesday.  Showers will continue on Wednesday with the low moving rapidly off to the northeast.  there may be a period of some wet snow on Wednesday night just before the precipitation come to an end.  Chilly Canadian air will be in place across the Midwest on Thursday and Friday with highs only in the 40's.
