A Look Back at Meteorological Summer

Now that we are kicking off the start of meteorological fall and summer is coming to an end, here's a look back at how the area faired in terms of climate norms.

Overall August's temperatures were slightly below normal with both average highs and lows just shy of one degree below normal. We did see a few records set in terms of August's rain however. Both August 18th and 29th both set records for record breaking rain in one day.

Looking at meteorological summer (June, July, August) temperatures also trended a bit below normal. Average highs were about a degree and a half below normal, while lows were only about 0.3 degrees below.  The only summer time record were those set for rain on August 18th and 29th.

Looking ahead through September, the first half of the month will trend about average, while we look to see a cool down to more seasonable trends by the end of the month.
