Thursday's rain leads to quite the chill for the start of the weekend

It was a breath of fresh, less humid, air Wednesday afternoon.  Blue skies today will be replaced with cloud cover Thursday as a cold front is set to pass through by Thursday night.

Wednesday night will remain dry, but clouds will increase by Thursday morning.  Thunderstorms firing up along the cold front earlier in the day Wednesday will fade and weaken by the time they reach the Mississippi River Thursday morning.  However, a lingering shower or two can't be ruled out before 8am.  So not only will you need the jacket in the morning, but you may also want to grab the umbrella.

The chance for rain increases through Noon Thursday, with a few thunderstorms possible by the afternoon.  Rainfall amounts won't be significant, but a tenth of an inch or so is possible by Thursday night.

Skies will remain cloudy Thursday night into Friday, with even a few showers still holding on.  It won't be steady rain, but more spotty showers as very cold air settles in across the Great Lakes.  Because of the colder air aloft, the cloud cover will be slow to clear Friday.  High temperatures will likely be reached early Friday, with temperatures slowly falling during the day.  By the afternoon, temperatures will be in the middle 60's.  And by kickoff Friday, temperatures will have fallen into the middle 50's.
