July Wraps Up as the 9th Wettest Month on Record

The month of July won't necessarily be remembered for the extreme warmth, but rather the extreme rainfall.  Officially Rockford received 7.48 inches of rainfall - 3.48 inches above normal.  Of course there are some communities that received well over double digit rainfall totals due to the very heavy rainfall the past couple of weeks.

The average high temperature for the month was 84.1 degrees, roughly about half a degree below normal.  The average low temperature was 64 degrees, about one degree above normal.

Temperatures for the start of August will drop nearly ten degrees below average.  And it looks like the 'August chill' may last through the middle of the month.  You can view the weekly outlooks from the Climate Prediction Center by clicking here.
