Temperatures tonight will be much colder than the night before, thanks to a cool and dry air mass moving in with high pressure overhead. That will keep our skies clear and ease the winds through the night. Efficient cooling under clear skies will bring us down into the low 40s for many overnight lows, and a few locations could reach the upper 30s! We may even see some patches of frost in rural areas.
More cool nights ahead with high pressure nearby and very dry air in place. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid-40s each of the next 4 nights. Average for this time of year is around 45°, so we will be a bit cooler than normal given the dry air.
Meanwhile afternoon high temperatures will take a different turn. We will be above average through the entire week, with a gradual warming trend bringing us back into the low 80s by Friday and Saturday. Average highs this time of year are closer to the mid-40s.
Our eyes turn to the South during our period of quiet weather, as we are watching now-Hurricane Milton forming in the Gulf of Mexico. Milton is forecast to reach major hurricane status in the gulf before making landfall on the Western coast of Florida sometime Wednesday. Those in Florida should begin hurricane preparations, including the possibility of evacuation if the storm were to evolve as forecast. The cone of uncertainty ranges the middle of the storm anywhere from the Big Bend region of Florida all the way down to the Southern tip. This does not indicate the size of the storm, rather the possibilities of where the center may travel.
Locally, we are sunny and dry through the week with a gradual warming trend reaching the 80s by Friday. Overnight lows continue to rise, reaching the mid 50s by the weekend.
