Well above average temperatures continue Sunday

The warmth will continue as we round out the weekend with temperatures climbing into the mid and upper 70s Sunday, a handful of degrees above high temperatures Saturday. Under mostly clear skies Sunday morning, temperatures have only fallen into the mid/upper 40s and low 50s.

Winds will once again increase from the southwest, at times gusting to 25 mph. The warm, windy, and dry conditions will create dangerous fire conditions today. With relative humidity values less than 30 percent at times, the breezy winds will allow any fire that does develop to quickly spread. This risk will also continue into Monday as highs rise into the low 80s! It won't quite be record warmth, but it'll be warm enough.

A cold front moving in late Tuesday night will help to usher in a cooler air mass for Wednesday and Thursday but bring with it limited rain chances. Currently, low pressure over the four corners regions of the Southwest will meander its way through the Plains and Midwest Sunday and Monday, reaching the Stateline Tuesday morning. A limited amount of moisture associated with the low will only bring a slight chance (less than 20 percent) of rainfall Tuesday morning and afternoon. Following that low a second cold front will pass Wednesday morning which will bring temperatures down into the 60s, closer to seasonal norms for late October.

Winds will also increase from the Northwest Wednesday afternoon. The drop in temperatures won't last long, however, as another warm front is slated to move across the Midwest which will likely bring temperatures back near 70.
