3:30pm Update:  Snow continues to come down across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin with near white-out and blizzard conditions, especially in the open and rural locations.  Conditions will continue to worsen as the afternoon and evening progress and travel will become dangerous.  Please be careful!
Chief Meteorologist Ty Shesky will continue doing cut-ins on WTVO at the top and bottom of the hour until the 5pm newscast.

The 3 hour pressure fall map indicates a 7mb drop right in the far southern tip of Illinois.  We look at where the pressure is falling to get an idea of just where low pressure systems will track.  This looks to be pretty much right on track with our current forecast, with just a slight shift northwest.  With this type of pressure fall we can expect the low to continue to deepen throughout the afternoon.  Snowfall totals so far where the heaviest of the snow has fallen across central and northeast Missouri have ranged between 8" and 12".  Lightning strikes, indicating thundersnow, were also found through Missouri.  We will begin to post snow totals once we receive them throughout the afternoon and evening.

1:00 pm Update: The leading edge of the snow is beginning to move through central Illinois and nudging into the far southwestern parts of the viewing area.  Blizzard like conditions will be possible through Whiteside county early this afternoon before spreading northward later today.  Snowfall rates could reach 1", maybe 2", per hour with some of the heavier snow.
