The graphic to the left depicts afternoon highs on July 7th. Rockford saw a blistering temperature of 105 degrees that afternoon, which was the highest value during this recent heat wave. In fact, the last time Rockford had a reading of 105 degrees or greater was when we reached 112 degrees on July 14, 1936, which happened 76 years ago!! Speaking of 100 degree days, we saw 4 consecutive days of temperatures reaching 100 degrees or more from July 4, 2012 - July 7, 2012. The last time something like this happened was from July 28, 1936 - July 31, 1936. Fortunately, we will be getting some relief from the heat this week, but our rain chances are still very slim.
