A few lines of severe thunderstorms rolled through the Stateline Wednesday night and despite some wind and hail damage, we did receive some much rain. Here are some of the higher amounts we saw over the last 24 hours. Harvard saw the most rain locally, picking up close to three inches in precipitation. Parts of Rockford received around an inch of rain. For more rain amounts from the NWS, click here.
But at this point, it might be too little, too late. The latest drought monitor, released Thursday morning, shows worsening drought conditions across the state. Severe drought conditions now encompass 95% of the state, including all of the Stateline.
The situation is even worse in southern Wisconsin, where they are experiencing extreme drought conditions.
The forecast is calling for a dry weekend as temps warm back into the upper 90s by Monday. Our next decent chance of rain will hold off until Tuesday.
