Seasonably chilly air to persist, snow chances remain low

Another winter storm is in the books and for northern Illinois, it was a swing and a miss. Areas downstate in central and southern Illinois wound up with the most snow and the issues that came along with it.

Snow chances moving forward are low. What sticks around the next few days is the seasonably chilly air as highs later today aim for the mid 20s, then low 20s Wednesday. This all happening under a mostly cloudy sky and light northwesterly flow.

A secondary winter storm takes shape over northern Mexico Thursday, shifting northeastward into the southern plains by Friday morning.

In a similar fashion to this most recent winter storm, this one won't impact the Stateline all that much as the main track is south enough to keep the impactful snow away. Areas like Dallas, the Tennessee Valley, and the Mid-Atlantic would be in the line of fire for accumulating snow. Locally, a separate disturbance to the north will sweep a cold front through, bringing with it the chance for scattered and light snow. Any accumulations will be minor.

Now, depending on how their associated upper level waves interact, this could either become a powerful northeaster and snow-maker for areas across the northeast and New England. OR, this storm system may just drift off the Mid-Atlantic coast if the two upper level pieces don't merge.
