Winter chill continues through this week

Just a couple hundred miles makes all the difference! Heavy snowfall associated with this active winter storm is falling across Missouri into Central and Southern Illinois/Indiana with even some ice accumulation to the South of that. Locally in Northern Illinois, just overcast and cold. If you are traveling downstate either tonight or early tomorrow, be cautious as roadways have become snow covered for many! Check current road conditions across Illinois here: https://www.gettingaroundillinois.com/WinterConditions/index.html.

Northern Illinois will remain dry from this system with the exception of a few lake effect snow showers closer to Chicago. There could be some accumulating snow, especially in Lake County through Monday. Locally, the Stateline will remain dry throughout this time under the influence of incoming high pressure.

Temperatures will not fall far overnight but it will be chilly with lows in the mid-teens. Monday will be closer to the mid-20s for highs with a bit more sunshine under the influence of incoming high pressure. A breezy North wind will still make it feel chilly, but it will be noticeably warmer than Sunday.

The chill settles in through this week ahead, with every day featuring high temperatures below the average mark of 30°. Tuesday and Wednesday will be the coolest in the short-term with highs in the low 20s, but another slight warm up arrives this weekend with more frequent snow chances Friday through Sunday.
