Thursday Weather Update

An incoming cold front has sparked showers and embedded storms across the area so far this morning. Rain continues to push ESE through the Stateline, with the leading edge producing gusty winds around 20mph. The storm activity is contained right along the leading edge with mainly just showers behind it. However, rain fall rates are high along the leading edge so be careful while driving because visibility will be reduced. Some small pea sized hail has also been reported via radar. We will get a break from the rain, but expect more rain and embedded storms later in the afternoon as the cold front continues to pull through. Currently the front is located near Madison and crossing south west through Dubuque, and back into south central Iowa. No severe weather is anticipated, and the strongest of the storms looks to stay south of 80.

Many locations so far have seen about a half inch of rain since this morning, including Rockford, Monroe, and Galena.
