Tuesday Morning Rain Update

Radar Update: Richmond and Wonder Lake currently getting hit with heavy rain in McHenry County. Heads up to McHenry heavy rain and lightning headed your way!

11am Rain Totals: Over 3" so far in Sterling! About 2.50" in Monroe.

10:45am Heavy rain moving across I-39 and I-90

10:30am UPDATE:
Heaviest of the rain now east of the river in Rockford

Current storm track for line moving through the Stateline. Heavy rain, strong winds and lightning moving NE at 25mph.

10:15am UPDATE: A line of strong storms is currently tracking east across the Stateline at 25mph. While a storm watch/warning is unlikely, storms are still producing stronger wind gusts as well as very heavy rainfall. Heavy downpours will reduce visibility while driving so use caution. Rainfall rates 1-2" an hour.

The Flash Flood Watch that was in place this morning for Jo Daviess, Carroll, Whiteside, and Stephenson County has been cancelled with the heaviest of the rain passing through and is now east of I-39 and 90.

A low pressure system will still bring a chance for more scattered showers and storms through the afternoon - however we won't see as much rain. The majority of the rain will be in south central Wisconsin now this morning where there is more upper level forcing, and then farther south of the Stateline for the afternoon following the low level jet. This is allowing the threat of widespread heavy rain to be much lower. But can't rule out redevelopment of storms in the afternoon and evening but with a stabilizing air mass. The threat for strong storms will also be to the south and west of the Stateline today.

The day planner will keep the chance for storms through the day - though the best timing will be before 1pm. The bulk of the clouds will stick around through the afternoon keeping temperatures on the lower side, in the upper 70's.
