Large ridge in the upper levels of the atmosphere, along with a strong warm front is bringing heat and humidity to the Stateline. While we most likely won't break the record of 98° for both Saturday and Sunday that was recorded in 1933, it is still going to be steamy.
Highs are forecast to warm to the lower 90's both Friday and Saturday, but breezy southerly winds up to 25mph both days will bring high heat index values between 95°-100°.
Make sure to stay hydrated, wear loose fitting and light clothing, as well as light colored. Try not to spend extended periods of time outside, and try not to exert yourself too much.
Also, a reminder to never leave anyone or your pets inside your car, even if you think it will be very short. For instance, if the temperature outside is 80° then after 10 minutes the temperature inside the car will have warmed nearly 20 degrees to 99°. After 30 minutes the inside temperature in the car will be 114° and after one hour it will be 123° inside.
Stay safe and cool this weekend, and remember your heat safety rules.
We do get a break from the heat on Sunday with an incoming cold front that will bring a chance for storms late Saturday afternoon into the evening and then temperatures in the upper 70's and low 80's on Sunday
