If you have been enjoying the upper 70s and lower 80s that we have been seeing across the Stateline of late, you may not be the biggest fan of the forecast for the upcoming weekend. As has been discussed recently, there is a significant warm up coming by the time we get to the end of the week. A large ridge will build in and dominate the forecast for the Midwest, Plains, and Great Lakes this weekend in a big way. It will bring the hottest weather of the year thus far. In fact, we could very well see temperatures exceed the hottest temperature we saw in both 2014 and
2015. In 2014, we rarely saw the 90s. Our highest temperature was 91° on May 31st. In 2015, the hottest temperature we saw was 92°. This Saturday could very well feature temperatures in the middle 90s. If that happens, it will be the hottest temperature we have seen in recent years. In 2013, we did reach 96° in September. Not only will temperatures be soaring into the 90s, but our humidity values will rise significantly as well late this week. Our dew points will easily rise into the upper 60s and have a good chance of hitting the 70s as well. That will make it feel very humid to oppressive. And yes, that uptick in humidity will bring back the famous heat index, or what it actually feels like outside. Those values could reach the middle and upper 90s on Saturday. In other words, the forecast for this weekend will be ideal for hanging out at your local pool or lake!
