As quick as the rain showers were to move in, they were quick to leave but the rain that did come down was our first measurable rainfall since September 24th! It wasn't much by any means with most locations picking up less than a tenth of an inch, but at least it was something. Rockford recorded 0.03 inches.
Skies were quick to clear following the line of showers, but cloud cover has recently moved back in with a few sprinkles through late afternoon. Winds have also been gusty from the southwest, nearing 30 mph at times.
The winds won't really ease through the evening or night, but our skies will begin to clear. This will set the stage for a mostly clear night - at least the first half of it. A cold front currently moving through the Upper Midwest will sink into the Stateline early Wednesday. While it won't bring any rainfall with it, it will bring back the cloud cover leaving skies mostly cloudy Wednesday morning. Winds will shift to the northwest which will help keep temperatures in the low 60s for the afternoon.
After a cloudy start Wednesday, we'll see the return of sunshine with skies staying clear through Wednesday night. High pressure moves back in early Thursday with temperatures falling into the low 30s.
Thursday will be an overall pleasant day with partly cloudy skies and temperatures warming back into the low to mid 60s. Cloud cover will soon be on the increase into Thursday evening as the next system moves in. This one will bring with it a better chance for rain, along with a few rumbles of thunder, overnight Thursday. Rainfall totals with this next system could reach half an inch, or more!
