Seasonable conditions to end the week, warm weather returning next week

After yet another multi day stretch of above average temperatures, the rest of this week looks to bring the fall feel back to the state line. This fall has certainly been one of a kind with extremely warm and dry conditions which has made it almost feel like an extension of summer! But with the month coming to a close, more seasonable temperatures will stick around until yet another quick warm up occurs.

Taking a quick look back at recent temperatures it's easy to say that we've been well above average for the last two weeks with much of the same pattern happening in the beginning days of October as well. Multiple readings of 15+ degrees above average high temperatures is definitely eye catching as well as high pressure being the main cause of such warm temperatures. The clear dip last week brought some of the first frost and freezing conditions to the state line as well, although we may not get as cold as that stretch 60's and 50's look to return!
Today will feature much of the same from yesterday however towards the late evening hours tonight scattered showers to possible thunderstorms look to develop bringing much needed measurable rainfall to the state line which may last into tomorrow morning. After that though, cooler air behind a cold front will allow temperatures to drop back into the low 60's and 50's giving us another quick taste of fall. After that though, temperatures will climb well into the 70's with a shift in the upper-level jet stream looking likely.
With high pressure being pushed to the east, a low-pressure system with a large upper-level trough is expected to develop helping to switch surface flow out of the southwest. This will allow warmer conditions and more moisture to move into the Midwest causing an increase in temperatures and precipitation chances. As for Halloween, the timing of this systems cold front will be the boom or bust for this Halloween! As of now the holiday looks to drop back into the 50's with the front moving out in time however those things will be tuned out in the days to come! Check back with the forecast throughout the week to see how Halloween trends.
