Soggy Sunday May Lead to Minor Flooding

It was a soggy, but mild Sunday afternoon.  After a little freezing rain during the early morning a transition to moderate rain occurred during the late morning and afternoon.  Between 0.20" and 0.60" of rain fell across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin melting away the freshly fallen snow from the previous week.  A few more showers will be possible through midnight before colder air moves by Monday morning.

While the rainfall is needed the recent cold snap has frozen the ground and the rain combined with the melting snow will cause a few minor flooding concerns; mainly in ditches, drainage areas and low lying locations.  I did notice some standing water on my way to work Sunday afternoon and even saw some in backyards.
