Thursday Evening Winter Storm Update

Our current winter storm will be slowly winding down later this evening, but there's still plenty of reasons to take it easy if you're out on the roadways tonight and even tomorrow morning.

Here's a look at current watches, warnings, and advisories. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until midnight for Walworth (WI) and McHenry... a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until midnight for Green (WI), Rock (WI), Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, and DeKalb.

Radar at 7:09pm
Precision Doppler just after 7:00pm shows snow showers starting to lighten to our west. However, a heavier band of snow is moving through Walworth, Boone, and parts of Ogle, Lee, and DeKalb counties.

Visibilities as of 7pm
The main concern tonight will be messy roads because of snow. Visibilities will also be greatly reduced as falling snow mixes with patchy fog.

If you're out tonight, remember a few things. Take some extra time to get where you need to go and be aware of your surroundings.

Fortunately, snow looks to move out late this evening. Models showing nice, dry skies by midnight for the entire Stateline.

Some icy spots could develop into Friday morning as temperatures dip into the low 20s, so once again, take it easy on your Friday morning commute. Roads should be much quieter by Friday afternoon.
