Highs will struggle to get out of the 20's by the end of the week

I hope you were able to get out and enjoy this past weekend because the upcoming weekend will not be as pleasant.  Temperatures Monday will be in the low 40's and close to 50 degrees Tuesday afternoon.  This warmth, however, will come with fog and clouds thanks to a warm front that will lift into Wisconsin Tuesday morning.

A strong cold front will move through Wednesday, although the timing of the front is still a little in question.  As this front comes through temperatures will fall throughout the day on Wednesday with highs tumbling into the 20's by the end of the week.  Overnight lows this weekend may not even make it out of the single digits as another strong Arctic high pressure system moves in.  While it will be cold here, highs in the far Northern Plains and Rockies won't even make it above 0° Thursday and Friday!!  Yikes!  Overnight lows there will fall as cold as -20°F!  So, I guess we don't have too much to complain about.

While the Arctic chill settles in once again across much of the country, a series of disturbances will ride right along the temperature boundary from the southwest through the middle Mississippi River Valley.  The combination of the cold air to the north, moisture from the Gulf and lift from these upper level lows will cause light snow to fall very close to the Stateline Thursday and possibly Friday afternoons.  It looks like if we don't see any snow late this week it will arrive at the end of the weekend with another low that will move in from the southwest late Sunday afternoon.
