Impressive Snow Totals Possible This Weekend!

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch that is effective starting Saturday night at 6:00 pm thru Monday morning at 3 am.  A 33 hour watch!

This storm is unusual in that it will hit the Stateline in 2 phases, the first phase will start on Saturday evening and snow until Sunday morning, then the storm will intensify and another wave will start by mid-day on Sunday and continue to snow into the late evening.  By the time this storm is done we could see 8-12 inches of snow on the ground!  The attached graphic was provided by the Chicago office of the National Weather Service.

While just a watch at this point, the National Weather Service might upgrade this tomorrow to a Winter Storm Warning.  The National Weather service considers a Winter Storm to be a weather event with potential for significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that may impact travel.

The primary concerns with this storm are the amount of snow, winds that may cause the snow to drift and possible impacts on driving.  Take precautions and get supplies before Saturday night, and certainly be careful if you will be driving later this weekend!
