Foggy Nights Ahead

Already noticing 'warmer air' in place this morning as temperatures start about 20° warmer than where we were yesterday morning. And highs this afternoon will be about ten degrees warmer than yesterday. Temperatures will bump up even more Friday through Sunday as we continue to draw in warmer air, but also a more moist air mass. Gulf moisture will begin to be drawn northward, and as our dew points rise so will our temperatures.

As a warmer air mass spreads over our snow covered ground, the snow will begin to melt. This will bring even more moisture into the atmosphere. With warm air over top a cold surface, it will also establish a temperature inversion, which could trap the moisture near the surface. This would lead to areas of fog potentially developing this weekend. We could see some Saturday night into Sunday, and also Sunday night as well.
