Monday Snow Update

We never really did get a break from the snow Monday afternoon as light, to even moderate snow at times, continued.  And even though the snow will lighten up Monday evening, it will continue into the overnight.

An area of light to moderate snow is currently moving through central and southern Wisconsin and will continue its southward trek during the overnight.  We may actually see the snow increase just a bit in intensity around midnight, but any additional accumulations will remain minor.  Snow totals so far range anywhere from three up to five inches area wide, with a few isolated higher totals coming in.

Winds are not overly strong Monday evening and have ranged between 5-15 mph.  But with the light and fluffy nature of the snow, it's been blowing around quite a bit as its been falling.  This has caused visibility to drop down near one mile in many locations.

Road conditions will remain slick as the snow continues to fall, especially with temperatures dropping into the low teens and single digits.

With the second wave of snow coming in during the overnight, there may be a period where road conditions become hard to travel, but should slowly improve through Tuesday.  Northwest winds will continue into Tuesday around 10 mph, so I'm not expecting too much of an impact with blowing snow during the day.  Some of the country roads in more of the open and rural areas may continue to have a little snow blow over them during the afternoon.
