Monday Morning Snow

Snow has been falling at a good rate through the evening, accumulating to 3.6" here at WTVO and 2.9" at the Rockford airport. IDOT still showing many area roads partially or mostly snow and ice covered this morning. This will be a concern through the morning and afternoon, even as snow tapers off, because of the threat for blowing snow.

We've got winds out of the southeast at 10mph, but those winds will turn to the northwest and will gust near 20 mph behind the front. And with the light and fluffy nature of the snow, it will easily be blown around.

The snow is tapering off, but light snow will continue through the late morning and early afternoon.

A winter weather advisory is is place and will continue through noon today. Later today additional snow will develop across southern Wisconsin and far northern Illinois as energy swings around behind the departing low.

Even though the snow fall is turning a bit more patchy, visibility will continue to be low in areas that it is still snowing. You'll really want to take it slow as you head out the door this morning. Even tonight once the snow ends, slow roads will be possible due to blowing snow.

Then behind the departing low, temperatures will fall into the single digits tonight, with chills below zero. Highs will hover in the upper teens and low 20's tomorrow.
