As First Warn Weather Intern Stephanie Gizzi talked about in the previous post, the strong southerly winds this morning helped transport a little more moisture into the Stateline causing for a somewhat foggy and dreary looking commute for some. However, the clouds are beginning to break apart as a little more mixing is occurring and as surface winds shift to the southwest allowing temperatures today to rise into the low to middle 80s.
Sometimes, however, cloud cover that starts off in the morning isn't so quick to break up as the day goes on. A lot of this has to do with the strength and angle of the sun. As we transition further and further into fall the sun's angle gets lower and lower causing the amount of energy from the sun to be less than what it would be say during late spring or summer. We're still early into the fall season, but as the months progress you may start to notice more and more cloudy days as it gets a little harder to 'burn off' the clouds from the morning. Typically, the winter months are when we experience more cloudy days but as we've seen in the past there can also be many sunny days as well.
