Tuesday afternoon weather update

1:00pm Update: Areas south of the yellow line have the greatest likelihood of seeing snow stick.  Heavier bursts of snow continue to occur south and southwest of Rockford and it's within those heavier bands accumulating snowfall will be found.

The snow continues to fly over northern Illinois this morning with heavier snow accumulating south and southwest of Rockford.  In fact, a few inches of snow are likely from the Quad Cities up through Whiteside and southern Carroll counties!

The radar picture remains a little messy early this afternoon as temperatures at the surface warm above freezing, but remain below freezing a few thousand feet above.  Light snow will continue to fall through the afternoon, possibly mixing with a few light rain showers, before ending around sunset.  While accumulating snowfall isn't likely for the Rockford area, areas southwest of a line from Lanark to Polo to Rochelle will end up with some accumulating snowfall.  Send in any snow reports or pictures to: weather@wtvo.com
