Accumulating snowfall has ended, but blowing and drifting snow will remain a problem

These were the current road conditions in Illinois and Wisconsin as of 9am Thursday morning.  Majority of roads in Illinois and Southern Wisconsin are reported as 50% snow and ice covered.  While most of the accumulating snow has ended, additional light snow and flurries combined with gusty north winds has dropped visibility, but has also created problems with blowing and drifting snow; especially on east/west roads in the open and rural areas.  Lesser traveled roads will be highly impacted through the evening commute and likely into the day Friday as winds continue to remain strong, but shifting to the south.

A little more snow has developed in Wisconisn and I anticipate that to transition south into Illinois later this morning.  Again, accumulations are not expected but the slick road conditions will remain so please use extra caution while traveling today and tonight.

Nicole sent in a picture of her husband's car stuck in the drifted snow around 5:30 this morning.  This was located on Weld Park Rd in Stillman Valley.
