Active weather week: Up and down temperatures with accumulating snowfall

Get ready for a roller coaster ride in temperatures this week as a series of clipper systems move in from the northwest.  Each one bringing a brief warm-up, followed by a big chill.  The first system moving through is a cold front this morning that may bring a few sprinkles - especially to the north in Southern Wisconsin.  There isn't a lot of cold air behind the front so temperatures will likely remain in the 30's this afternoon.  By tonight, a warm front with the second clipper system will move
through Iowa, Illinois and into Wisconsin by Tuesday morning.  While there won't be a great amount of moisture with it, snow will begin around midnight tonight and continue through the early Tuesday morning commute.  A brief break from the snow will occur midday with a little more snow developing behind the low Tuesday afternoon and evening.  Snowfall totals will range between 1" and 3", with the higher snowfall totals tied closer to the low in Southern Wisconsin.  In anticipation of the expected snowfall, a Winter Weather Advisory has
been issued for Southern Wisconsin counties: Green, Rock and Walworth.

Once the cold front passes Tuesday afternoon, temperatures will quickly fall into the 20's and then the low teens by Tuesday night.  We'll remain in what we call 'Northwest Flow' within the jet stream which will keep the weather active through the weekend and temperatures up and down until Sunday.  The next chance at snow will come late Wednesday night
into Thursday and then again Friday into Saturday.
