Winter Threat Update

Winter is not cutting us any slack over the coming days. Here's an update on what will impact the Stateline through next week.

A Wind Chill Advisory is now officially in effect for the entire Stateline through Friday morning with wind chills expected to be in the -20° to -30° range during the overnight. Here are wind chills as of 9:00pm:

Wind Chills as of 9:00pm
After Thursday night's Wind Chill Advisory, a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning for significant blowing & drifting, especially on west to east roads.

A quick round of snow will be possible Saturday and early Sunday, giving us 1-2" of accumulation before the biggest cold snap the Stateline has seen in years moves in. Starting Sunday night, temperatures will dip below 0° and possibly stay that way through Wednesday morning.

To put this cold into context, Monday will be flirting with Rockford's ALL-TIME record low and record coldest high temperatures.

Use this time now to take the proper precautions so you can stay safe over the next week. -BA
