The trend of above normal warmth continues as we head into the weekend. Friday doesn't look to break any records, but it will still be mild with temperatures warming to 54°. A developing low pressure system to the southwest will bring in thicker cloud cover and moisture tonight. The cloud cover will thicken tonight, a few spotty showers are possible tonight as well as areas of fog develop late tonight into Saturday. With southerly flow, temperatures tonight won't fall much, we see a low around 46°
For Saturday, you'll wake up to temperatures in the 40's and areas of thicker fog. Watch out for that if you have to head out early in the day. Light showers will move in through Saturday afternoon, but it won't be a total wash out as temperatures warm to 59°. As the low pressure system moves through Missouri into central Iowa Saturday evening, periods of heavy rain will then move in Saturday night through Sunday. Even a few rumbles of thunder are possible Saturday night and early Sunday. Overnight low's will be extremely mild Saturday into Sunday, with temperatures stalled in the mid 50's.
You'll wake up to more fog Sunday morning as well as the rainfall. Periods of heavy rain will persist through Sunday afternoon into Monday. Temperatures on Sunday will warm into the low 60's, which would break a high temperature record for Rockford. When its all said and done, we could see about an inch to two inches of rainfall.
Temperatures then will fall back to seasonable levels but the end of next week.
