We're off to a muggy start on this Tuesday, with dew points sitting around 70°. Unfortunately, these don't change much going through the day, so be prepared for a muggy Tuesday. These muggy conditions will allow for cloudy skies this afternoon, alongside a few isolated thunderstorms which are now pushing into the far western portion of the viewing area.
As we go through the rest of the morning, we'll continue watching a disturbance move into our area, which will bring us our chances for isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. However, the bulk of the activity from this system will stay south of our area, where everything will be more scattered.
Once the disturbance moves in, it'll stay with us for the afternoon and evening. The cloud cover will keep temperatures cooler during the afternoon in the low 80s, but more sunshine will come about during the evening when everything starts to die down.
Everything will be dying down as we head into the overnight due to a high pressure system that'll approach the area. This will clear our skies during the overnight and bring calm winds, which will bring us another overnight of patchy fog across the area.
Our next storm chance arrives on Thursday after that high pressure system fizzles out Wednesday night. A cold front will move down from the north and increase our cloud cover for Thursday morning, and then bring some thunderstorms late in the day when it passes through. The front won't be that strong, so nothing is expected to be severe.
Overall, things are looking good for the opening of the Boone County Fair. Just be a mindful of a passing thunderstorm if heading out this evening. Other than the storms early Thursday evening, everything is looking dry on Thursday.
However, the weekend will be the best time to go with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid 80s.
