Thursday Evening Storm Update Update

7:25pm Update: Heavy rain continues to fall over downtown Rockford.  Visibility will be lowered as the rain moves in.  Rainfall totals could add up to a quick quarter to three quarters of an inch in some of the heavier rain.

6:25pm Update: Thunderstorms continue to move into northern Illinois Thursday evening, but are weakening.  Heavy rainfall and wind gusts to 40 mph will be possible as this line moves through.  Isolated thunderstorms will be possible south of Highway 72 during the late evening.

Thunderstorms over southern Wisconsin will be capable of producing frequent lightning, gusty winds, small hail and heavy rainfall.  This line is moving south at roughly 20-30 mph, expected to cross over the state line by 6:30pm.

Storms near Madison and Milton did produce damage, with a possible tornado near Deerfield in Dane County, but severe weather is not anticipated locally.
These storms will be near the Highway 20 corridor between 6:45pm and 7pm, but should continue to weaken as they move further south of Rockford.  Skies will turn partly cloudy overnight with fog likely by Friday morning.
