Slight Risk Saturday

Courtesy: SPC
The Storm Prediction Center out of Norman, OK has a slight risk of severe weather on Saturday extending from upstate New York back into northern and eastern parts of Illinois. Although Rockford is just north of the slight risk area, southern parts of the Stateline viewing area are impacted by this slight risk, including Ogle, Lee, and DeKalb counties.

A trough of low pressure extending from Lake Erie back into northern Illinois combined with the mid-day arrival of a weak cold front will help to trigger severe thunderstorms in the afternoon. In addition, a very moist airmass will be in place as this front arrives to help fuel these storms. Winds in excess of 60mph and hail greater than 1" in diameter are possible with any severe storms that do develop.
