Very humid this morning; Severe Thunderstorm Watch Possible

(9:38:39 AM) nwsbot: DVN issues SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCING HEAVY RAINFALL for Bureau, Carroll, Jo Daviess, Putnam, Stephenson, Whiteside [IL] till 11:45 AM CDT

A trained spotter reported ponding of water on Highway 20 just east of Freeport this morning.  Some of the stronger storms will produce frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.  These showers/storms should diminish later this morning.

8:05am Update:  A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued just to our north for a few storms that have grown in strength across central Wisconsin.  For us, scattered showers will become a little more numerous this morning as they run into an unstable airmass.  We may even hear a few claps of thunder.  We'll continue to monitor the forecast for the potential of a few more storms later this afternoon.

A few showers moved through southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois early this morning, but there are a few more storms that have formed across southwest Wisconsin and back through west-central Wisconsin.  Current trends are being monitored for the potential of a Severe Thunderstorm Watch to be issued later this morning.  The showers/storms that moved through earlier were elevated because they moved away from their lifting source.  As the sun continues to rise this morning and the current showers/storms move southeast they may become more surface based across northern Illinois which could lead to a few of the storms to produce hail and gusty winds.
