Accumulating Snow Monday Afternoon

After a very chilly start this morning, the sunshine helped quickly bring us out of the negatives.  However, temperatures will stay fairly cold today, staying well below freezing during the afternoon.

This will have an impact on the snow showers moving through this afternoon.  The snow, along with the cold temperatures, will allow the snow to easily stick to the roadways, resulting in very poor road conditions.  The roads will stay this way for quite some time.

We can expect to see some flurries and isolated light snow mid-day, before the snow showers move in between 2-3pm.  These snow showers will lower our visibilities pretty quickly, something else to keep in mind of when out on the roads later this afternoon.  Most of us can expect between 3-3.5 inches of snow from this system, with areas out west seeing upwards of 4 inches of snow.  The snow will move out between 9-10pm tonight.

Once we get into the overnight, a high pressure system will move in to clear our skies and bring in more cold air, which will result in another night stuck in the negatives.  High pressure will keep our temperatures below freezing most of the week, and keep some of our overnights in the single digits.

As we head into Tuesday we'll see a little bit of sunshine, before clouds build up towards the afternoon.  Light snow is expected during the late-night hours, but accumulations will be small.

Wednesday we'll see some flurries before more snow showers move in on Thursday, with another round expected Friday night heading into the weekend.
