Sunday Evening Weather Update

10:50pm Update: Light snow will continue to fall over the Stateline Sunday night.  The atmosphere has become a little more saturated, allowing the snow to reach the surface.  There could be some slick spots early Monday, especially on untreated surfaces.

The snow has been falling for much of the afternoon west of the Mississippi River, with skies becoming mostly cloudy over northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.  The radar is beginning to show some light snow, even a little mix, west and south of Rockford but there is likely very little - if any - of that actually reaching the ground.

Our atmosphere has been very dry this afternoon with dew point temperatures in the single digits.
However, those numbers have started to come up west of a line from Monroe to Dixon reaching close to 20 degrees.  This is a sign that the atmosphere is beginning to saturate with the incoming snow showers.  It'll still take some time before the snow reaches the surface locally.  A few light snow showers could be seen west of Freeport between 7pm and 9pm, but most will likely begin to see light snow between 10pm and Midnight.  Accumulations will remain light and under one inch, mostly on grassy surfaces.  Temperatures will fall below freezing so there could be a few slick spots early Monday morning.
