The USDA released its weekly weather and crop report Tuesday and parts of the state continue to show a decline in conditions in corn and soybeans. Temperatures last week across the state were nearly 7° above normal while precipitation averaged close to half an inch below normal. The dry and hot conditions continue to have a negative impact on the corn crops with reports of firing, or drying, occurring in fields across the state. As abnormally dry conditions have developed in Illinois topsoil moisture continue to decline as well and was rated 27% very short, 50% short and only 23% adequate.
