Monday afternoon weather update: Hot & humid!

Low lying clouds from this morning have almost all but burned off early this afternoon.  The full sunshine and increase in south/southwest wind will allow temperatures to rise into into the low to middle 90s this afternoon.  The heat index in many locations has already reached the upper 90s and values will continue to rise along with the temperature; especially for areas from Rockford to Rochelle and points west.

The record high temperature for today is 97° which was set back in 1955.  The record high for Tuesday is 96° which was set back in 1931.  Temperatures both today and tomorrow will get close!
