Rain in central Iowa moving toward the Stateline will dissipate due to the dominant high pressure feature over Ohio.
However, by late Monday evening into the morning hours on Tuesday we will see scattered rainfall due to an advancing warm front. The warm front will bring not only rain, but warmer temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday.
The rain will taper off Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon until our next cold front advances towards the area. These storms could pack quite a punch with gusty winds and heavy downpours possible. This system will completely pass Friday morning meaning we will stay dry for high school football and the rest of the weekend.
Computer models haven't had a good handle on how much rain we may get through Friday morning. One model suggests only 0.05" will fall while, on the other end of the spectrum, another model thinks we will get over 3" of rain. The general average of all the models gives us just under an inch of rain over the next four days. I generally agree with this; I think we will get anywhere from 0.5" to 1" of rain.
