A departing cold front Wednesday night left a decent amount of cloud cover across the Stateline Thursday morning. High pressure moving down Lake Michigan during the day will help erode the clouds away by the afternoon with temperatures rising into the upper 70s.
Winds shift back around to the south Friday providing a warming trend and temperatures back above average with highs in the low 80's. Saturday could be a warm, or even hot, day depending on how quickly a cold front moves through. If the front moves through late in the day it will allow plenty of time for afternoon highs to reach the upper 80's. However, if the front moves through earlier then cloud cover and possible showers/storms will keep the temperatures down. By Sunday, high pressure will build into southeast Wisconsin pushing the front into central Illinois and central Iowa. Heat behind a warm front will build in the Plains and begin to shift east late Sunday night and through the day next Monday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible late Saturday and again Sunday night but at the moment the weekend doesn't appear to be a complete washout. Temperatures by next Tuesday could easily rise into the low 90's.
