Heat Safety Tips

With dangerous heat possible next week, I wanted to quickly remind you of a few heat safety tips.

Heat is one of the leading weather related killers in the United States, but it is preventable. It is the cause of hundreds of deaths and even more cases of a heat related illness.

Make sure to dress in light-weight clothes and light layers.

At job sites make sure to stay hydrated and take breaks in the shade as often as possible.

Make sure to check on those who are elderly or sick, and those who don't have A/C.

Make sure to always check the car before you lock it, never leave children or pets in a hot car, even for a few minutes.

Limit strenuous outdoor activities, take breaks in the shade, and stay hydrated.

This National Weather Service has great and detailed information on what to do when there is a heat wave, symptoms of heat related illnesses, and more details about heat waves. You can find that here.
