A week cold front that brought showers and storms to the Stateline Wednesday evening won't drop temperatures much this afternoon, we will stay in the 80's with breezy winds coming from the west.
A secondary backdoor cold front will pass Friday, which will bring cooler and drier air behind it. A few sprinkles are possible, but overall it will be a dry day with highs in the upper 70's.
Expect temperatures to remain seasonable through the weekend in the low 80's, and while Saturday will be dry, storms are possible Sunday afternoon from a MCS that will be moving through Iowa Saturday night.
The active pattern continues next week with large dome of hot air developing in the southwest. Typically with this pattern, storms will develop and travel along the jet stream pattern; our steering winds in the atmosphere along the edge of the heat. This would mean that storms that develop along the ridge would travel through northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, allowing for possibly multiple rounds of storms for the beginning of next week.
The large thermal ridge then advects east by Wednesday of next week, and this looks to kick off a string of very hot days in northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. High temperatures will rise into the upper 80's by Tuesday and then to the 90's by Wednesday. A string of days in the mid 90's is definitely possible from then and continues through next weekend. There has been some variance in how warm forecast models for this time period go, however it is something that bares watching as it could be dangerous heat for the Stateline area.
