Hot & Humid Monday Gives Way to Storms Midweek

A large thermal ridge centered over the Midwest, along with a passing warm front, will allow for high temperatures to climb into the upper 80's to around 90° this afternoon. Breezy southerly winds gusting to 25 mph will help with the warmth, as well as the humidity. Dew point numbers will also be on the rise today, reaching the low 70's which is a very oppressive air mass. This will allow for 'feels like' temperatures or heat index values to make it to the 95-99° range today. Make sure to stay hydrated if you have to spend a prolonged period outside.

Underneath this unstable air mass, along with an unsettled pattern in place, multiple rounds of storms will be possible this week. Starting overnight Monday into Tuesday morning and then again in the afternoon. More storms will be possible again Wednesday morning and late afternoon and evening. Some of these storms could be on the stronger side, and the Storm Prediction Center has out-looked the area under a 'Slight Risk' for strong to severe storms both Tuesday and Wednesday. Strong winds and heavy rainfall will be what we're watching for in those storms.

However, the exact placement of storms will be tricky, with afternoon development contingent on what happens in the morning. We will continue to keep you updated as we head through the next couple days.
